The website jesuisgrec.blogspot.com has published a text called "Declaration of Nantes for Greece" (the city of France which launched the initiative of solidarity with Greece) with the slogan "I, too, am Greek !"
Αpplications are increasing every day and the philhellenic movement grows!
Read the full text below:
Solidarity with the Greek people !
I, too, am Greek !
We demand double nationality !
Enfuriated by the cowardice and lack of imagination of the Western
governments—including our own (1)—towards the dictatorship of the
financial markets;
And disgusted by the current humiliations being imposed on the Greek
people, shamefully accused of excess and dishonesty, pronounced guilty
without being allowed a defence (2), condemned to endless austerity
and penitant contrition, in a language that evokes 1940 and Pétain
with its "moral order," "effort" and "spirit of joy;"
And certainly not forgotting those who now sacrifice Greece to the
financial speculators, pretend that "economic fascism" will content
itself with the little countries, sparing themselves...
... those same people who abandoned Czechoslovakia to Adolf Hitler in
Munich in 1938, hoping that he would be satisfied with this new prey,
following the cowardice shown to the Spanish republicans (3);
We will no longer support these nouveaux riches (the triumphant 1% of
the globalised world), who ignore the moral debt that humanity owes to
the Greek nation (4), which sowed the first seeds of direct democracy
(5), based precisely on the abolition of debts and the emancipation of
citizens reduced to slavery by their indebtedness 2500 years ago (6).
For all these reasons, we are all Greeks. We want to send a clear
signal right now that we will no longer collaborate a minute longer in
passivity towards the financial regime imposed on Greece (7). We wish
to express our solidarity with Greece, and to share, at least
symbolically, the fate of its people.
We therefore ask for dual Greek nationality, by making a formal
request to the Greek ambassador in our country. We will launch this
campaign with a list of primary signatories on the 24 November 2011, a
date that is also the anniversary of a significant action by the Greek
resistance at the Gorgopotamos Viaduct on the night of the 24/25
November 1942 (8).
"Declaration of Nantes for Greece," 11/11/11.
"Your excellency, in solidarity with your country, I, the undersigned.............. request personally to be counted at heart a Greek, to enjoy the rights and duties of dual nationality, and to express this international citizenship with a view to the establishment of universal democracy in liberty and equality, twenty-five centuries after the time of Solon, Clisthene, and Pericles. Thanks in advance for your response, and in fraternity with your people. "

Thank you on behalf of Greece. Yes, I am grateful to hear a voice of brilliance of vision, recognition of the gifts Greece gives, and gracious manners based on noble, time-tested sentiments. We move forward together. My heart delights in your motions! If I could magically issue all the necessary documents to instantly establish your dual citizenship with Greece, I would do it Prestissimo! There is an urgency for love and intelligence in our world. There is an urgency to forgive and look with an eye to assist, illuminate, and benefit our fellow man. May we be United then, and allow Greece to serve you as you are serving her.
With deepest respect, esteem, and appreciation,

I’m a Greek-American whose maternal grandparents were born in Sparta and Gythio and I’ve been trying unsuccessfully 5 years to get dual Greek-American citienship. The Greece Consulate in Chicago, Illinois said I have to prove my grandparents were born in Greece, which I did with their American death, marriage, and Social Security information but because I have no birth certificate, I’m denied dual citizenship, even tho Greece didn’t keep birth records that far back (1885). Any help would be appreciated. My grandfather’s name in Greece was Charalambos Karkaletris/Sparta (Harry Letsis in America), and grandma was Ourania Economacos/Gythio (Albia Comes in America) whose dad was Alexander Economacos. Thanks for the help! I want my dual citizenship!

Hello,
I am a philosopher from Finland and I just have to say that I totally agree this writing! We Europeans have sold our basic existence, the Greece and it´s noble history that we must thank for so much about the philosophy, science, christianity and culture in common, to the economic powers that use it as their own laboratory. Some of us are even proposing that we should claim parts of the Greece in change of our loans. Of cource, these loans do not help the Greek people, just banks.
I am really exhausted from all this. Parthenon, Areopagus and all the other miraculous places already belong to all of us, who value our European culture an inheritance. They cannot be sold to the economic powers, banks or tourism companies and there must be another way to solve this problem. If we cut Greece to pieces, we cut eventually ourselves.
I am totally shamed that there is so little we have done this far to solve this situation and our main concern seems to be saving the German and French bank investments. We must do something, and not just symbolically, but in concrete way.

Hello,
I totally agree with all the comments above, and I too feel exhausted and sick of all this that’s happening.
It’s just so sad seing such a great country being destroyed out of the interests of a few… I really do feel for the greek people, it boils up my blood seing such terrible and unfair things done to them. There has to be a way out of it, i don’t want the future to be like this.
I got faith though, Greece has endured many wars and difficulties in the past and has always come victorius, so it might take some time but she will overcome this too, i know!!
All my support and Love to Greece!!! ΕΛΛΑΔΑ ΔΕΝ ΕΙΣΑΙ ΜΟΝΗ ΣΟΥ!
Greece’s fight is our fight!
I would like to take part in this Declaration of Nantes thing, does anyone know if it is possible to do it here in spain? If anyone knows let me know please.
Greece always in my heart.
