According to information sent to the editorial team of SecNews, the hackers managed to access confidential data from government and university networks.
As stated in a message sent by the hackers to SecNews website, they managed to access personal data of hundreds of Greek citizens, corporate economics, and sensitive data files from Population registry offices, Universities and the General Accounting Office.
The hackers published data of General Secretariat of Fiscal Policy,files from the General Department of Budget & Treasury, records of Feneral financial control department and especially sensitive files of companies that have applied for a loan guaranteed by the Greek State. Financial information (turnover, profits, equity etc), amounts owed to banks, documents for sponsorship of the Greek government and the mail correspondence between the General Accounting Office and banks were only some of documents exposed to public...
The Ministry of Finance confirmed that the server of the General Accounting Office was attacked from hackers and that the incident is under investigation.
A part of the hackers' message:
"The state machine stores all your data for years...Your names are inside the municipal rolls among with all your personal details, addresses and names of your wifes and children... You are just numbers for them... On May 6 we have elections... Behave like people and not like numbers... "
