Greece Should Leave Euro to Rebuild Economy, says Martin Feldstein
Martin Stuart Feldstein (George F. Baker Professor of Economics at Harvard and also president emeritus of the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) ) talked about the prospects of a Greek euro exit in an interview at Bloomberg.
He expressed the opinion that there is no specific formula that the countries can follow in order to solve their economic problems. Each country is different... and in the case of Greece and there is no solution but to exit the euro zone since the country's economy is in terrible situation that can not be fixed...
“Well, I think it would create chaos, it would create problems” says Mr. Feldstein and he adds,
“It would be better for Greece to be able to adopt a new currency, a drachma, allow the currency to fall as currencies did in East Asia and in Latin America; that would give a significant boost to growth in Greece as Greeks shift their spending to domestically produce goods and services.”

That is wonderful Professor Feldstein. What a unique idea you came up with! I am amazed at your incredible intellect. That’s it! Greece should just leave the Euro zone and allow its currency the new ‘powerful drachma” float against other currencies , get devalued so that Greek products are more competitive and hence domestic rise to Greeks competing on a local level for good and services.
You, my friend, are the biggest buffoon I have ever heard of. You are professor of economic at Harvard? Who the hell did you grease to get that job?? You are out of your mind! I think a bit of aversion therapy is highly recommended for you. I will let you watch over n over n over again videos of Greek domestic
problems until you GET IT that Greece CANNOT IN FACT LEAVE THE EURO ZONE YOU INSANE MAN!!
The old axiom here is so true: Allow 10 economic cooks in the kitchen with the same
exact recipe and have 10 totally different cakes baked!
Ha! I need to introduce you to my friend Professor Emeritus Richard Wolff at U of Mass who diametrically opposes and believes against Greece leaving the Euro because as he says, “it will be a total disaster!”
I agree with Professor Wolffe 150 percent! He looks at the micro economic effect of such drastic decision . You look at at the over all picture and dismiss totally what catastrophe it would be for a small country like Greece that have no industry and are forced to import almost 80 percent or more of goods and services.
What would a devalued drachma do to Greece not being able to attain just basic needs such as heating oil, gasoline , drugs and medicine for hospitals etc etc. You just completely dismiss that Greece doesn’t have the capacity to manufacture its own medical supplies and energy that’s needed to run the every day operations never mind other matters such as defense etc. What do you think would happen to Greek society as the elite rich still have euros and able to get those goods from outside sources as opposed to the middle class and poor citizens of Greece that make up about 90 percent of the population thst would be holding worthless drachmas! I have a feeling you don’t give a damn about the middle class or hard working people. After all, you probably get quite a nice salary and make out pretty good as a Harvard professor. Damn the poor and middle class you infer. Let’s let Greece find it’s own way out as it slowly moves to the ‘all powerful new drachma’ and thing become stable over time.
Right professor! You just solved Greece’s problems. Thank you for your expert analysis!
My screaming question is this? How do these yokel economists like this guy find their way into getting interviewed by powerhouse media giants? Is it any wonder that not only Greece but the rest of Europe finds itself in this mess. I am going to stop right here!! I have heard enough of this buffoon. I think Jerry Lewis was a much better professor in his classic movie “The Nutty Professor” Buddy Love. Ha ha That is what we need in Greece, Professor Buddy Love.
One day a stud and the following day a wacky professor Ha Ha! I am sure Professor Buddy love would have solved this crisis a long time ago. Where are you when we need you Jerry Lewis??

Aristotelis Demopoulos I agree with you totally.
Greece needs to just start creating JOBS! Very simple formula! BUILD ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING. I dont care if they build a bridge from Athens to Mykonos.
Get EVERYONE TO WORK from the ages of 35 to 55. What this idiot says about leaving the EURO is on crack! He forgot something very simple they teach you in economics is something called INFLATION and COST OF GOODS. Since we live in a WORLD ECONOMY we have to adjust to it.
What the Governments around the world should do is place EVERYONE at ZERO. Wipe out everyones loans and let them be.
At that point just worry about the banks and if the Banks look like they are going to fail they will consolidate and adjust.
This will be much easier than allowing people to loose jobs and steal! This SO CALLED Professor makes 150k plus a year and lives in his sheltered life. Why doesnt he take a pay cut so more kids can get an education?
What an idiot!
