Greece goes to elections on June 17th – Judge Pikramenos named as caretaker PM
Senior judge Panagiotis Pikramenos was named Greece's caretaker prime minister, and new elections will be held on the 17th of June!
Although, the meeting of the political leaders lasted more than an hour, the political leaders could not agree on a certain political figure who would become the interim PM of the country in order to lead Greece to the new elections' round.
The proposal of ND and PASOK to keep Lucas Papademos on the post was not accepted the other parties and President Papoulias decided to place judge Panagiotis Pikramenos to the position of caretaker PM.
Mr. Pikramenos was born in Athens on 1945. He studied Law at the Athens Law University and post-degree studies in Public Law in Paris.

Olympiakos Piraeus staged a magnificent fourth-quarter fightback to win their second title in Europe's premier club basketball competition with a dramatic 62-61 victory over CSKA Moscow in Istanbul on Sunday.
During the third quarter of the match CSKA was leading the game with 19 points (53-34) but during the last period Olympiakos dug deep and completed a stunning fightback after Georgios Printezis scored on the buzzer to give them a 62-61 win.
Angela Merkel: “We want to make sure nobody else will want the Memorandum”
According to Wall Street Journal, German Chancellor Angela Merkel admitted that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was intentionally so hard.
When George Papandreou, the former Greek premier who negotiated the original bailout (2010) he asked Angela Merkel for gentler conditions in the memorandum. Angela Merkel replied that the aid program must be very hard (!): "We want to make sure nobody else will want this..." she said.
After Greece's May 6 elections results, more elections are likely in June, with no guarantee that a stable government will emerge. Greece's growing turmoil is the culmination of a radical austerity experiment and a botched economic overhaul that pushed the Greek nation into a social and political breakdown. It is obvious that forcing deep austerity on Greek people won't save the euro...

Olympic Flame ceremony 2012 (Video)
The ceremony of the Olympic Flame in the ancient city of Olympia has been successfully completed a few minutes ago.
The flame was lighted by the "High Priestess" Ino Menegaki ( the Priestess captures the morning sun’s rays in a parabolic mirror) and then handed over to the world champion of swimming Spiro Giannioti to start the torch relay.
The flame will pass through many areas of Greece and will end up in the Panathenaic Stadium on Thursday, May 17 at 7 pm. Τhen will travel to Britain on May 18 for a 70-day relay around the UK...

Dow Jones Newswires: Latest polls show “Syriza” party at 25%
According to the latest internal surveys by PASOK and New Democracy parties, Syriza continues to make strong gains among Greek voters...
Syriza is probably the country's most popular party since there are no information about the two ex-major parties...
The international news agency Dow Jones Newswires, reported that Syriza is now garnering around 25% of the vote--up from the outcome of the 6th of May elections when it gathered 16.8% of the votes, two percentage points behind New Democracy's 18.9%.
Golden Dawn shocks Greeks: “All Rise!” (Video)
The first shock came very early or our "Democratic" nation... The leader of the far right party "Golden Dawn" (Crysi aygi) N. Michaloliakos was about to address the media when a member of the party urged the television reporters to rise and “Show respect to our leader!”
Moreover, the members of the party demanded that their leader's speech should be "live" broadcasted by all media otherwise the journalists should leave the place...

European officials signal easing of fiscal rules as they realize the voters’ anger!
European officials are developing an investment pack to encourage financial growth in EU countries, due to the fact that voters in Greece and France have punished the political leaders who have supported hard austerity measures!
Olli Rehn, the European Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affairs, asked for extra government investing on large-scale infrastructure developments, since there are not sufficient private-sector demands which could create new job positions.
Mr. Rehn stated clearly that he is willing to loosen the EU’s tough new budget rules for countries that have been forced to dramatically reduce public spending in order to meet Brussels-mandated deficit levels.
Political Thriller in Greece! The first exit polls!
Three parties are fighting (New Democracy, Syriza, PASOK) for the top spot in the country's critical parliamentary elections, with no definitive front-runner and none gaining enough votes to form a government!
The first exit polls show that New Democracy party will get between 17 per cent and 20 per cent, PASOK between 14 per cent and 17 per cent, and the left-wing Radical Left Coalition of Syriza, between 15.5 per cent and 18.5 per cent!
